Vibrant Flute Music at mdw’s Musethica Session in Vienna

The first session of the mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the newly launched Creative Europe project “1000+ Concerts: Innovating Higher Music Education through Social Inclusion” took place from October 25th to 30th, 2024.

The students from Prof. Wally Hase's flute class put together a varied programme, featuring a mix of solo and chamber music, ranging from well-known melodies to modern compositions. Accompanied by Avri Levitan, co-founder and Artistic Director of Musethica, and together with their professor Wally Hase, they performed a total of nine concerts throughout the week.

The concerts were held at various social institutions in Vienna, in collaboration with our new partner, “Wiener Gesundheitsverbund”, which operates several social institutions in Vienna and Lower Austria. The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the final concert at mdw’s Fanny Hensel Hall, which was opened by the Academic Director of the project Professor Johannes Meissl, and open to the public.

The EU co-funded project “1000+ Concerts IHMESI” plays a crucial role in connecting higher music education and classical music at its highest level with marginalised communities, acting as a bridge between them.
